COLD BREW GUIDE
Below is a 5 step guide to brewing the perfect cold brew.
1. COARSE GRIND COFFEE BEANS
Begin by coarsely grinding your coffee beans. Aim for a texture similar to coarse sea salt to ensure proper extraction and prevent over-extraction during the extended brewing process.
2. COFFEE-TO-WATER RATIO
Use a coffee-to-water ratio of approximately 1:8 or 1:10. For example, for every 1 part of coffee grounds, use 8-10 parts of water. Adjust this ratio according to your taste preferences and the strength of coffee you desire.
3. COMBINE COFFEE + WATER
In a large container or pitcher, combine the coarsely ground coffee beans with cold, filtered water. Stir gently to ensure all the grounds are saturated with water.
4. STEEP
Cover the container or pitcher and let the coffee steep at room temperature for 12-24 hours. The longer the steeping time, the stronger the cold brew will be. Keep the container away from direct sunlight and give it an occasional gentle stir.
5. STRAIN + SERVE
After the steeping period, strain the cold brew concentrate using a fine-mesh sieve, cheesecloth, or a cold brew coffee maker to remove the coffee grounds. Dilute the concentrate with equal parts water or milk, depending on your preference. Serve the cold brew over ice and enjoy its smooth, rich flavor.
